The EMTS Telecom Services Ltd. 4 x4 matrix model MTX-4X4-698-3800-300 is an ultra-wideband highperformance, high power ‘4 by 4’ Hybrid Matrix that use to combine BTS. The usage of high- performance hybrid reduces the in-band passive inter-modulation products and minimizes the interference. Its high isolation level between ports ensures an interference-free environment for any technology deployed. The EMTS innovative hybrid design provides a very low insertion loss while keeping the product extremely compact and lightweight. Its high Return Loss makes the introduction of the device transparent to the BTS. The very high isolation and very low PIM make the 4x4 matrix also suitable forLTE advanced networks among all other wireless air protocols. The unit is designed to withstand the most severe outdoor environments and can handle up to 300 watts CW per port.

EMTS Telecom Services Ltd. offers a comprehensive portfolio of enhanced coverage solutions for Wireless Networks, Based on interference and oscillation problems, challenging coverage holes, rapid response deployment, and inadequate in-building coverage. Regardless of the technology or frequency, EMTS can provide customized coverage solutions that address any combination of unique and complex network needs for Wireless Networks.

RF Hybrid Matrix and Combiner Solutions

An RF hybrid matrix combines and splits signals between several inputs and outputs with defined power division and isolation. In multi-operator DAS headends, a hybrid matrix distributes the combined base station signals evenly across several DAS branches, which keeps power levels balanced and simplifies system design.

Models in this group

  • A 4 by 4 hybrid matrix for 600 to 4100 MHz with 300 W power handling, described in its datasheet as an ultra-wideband, high performance, high power unit
  • A 2 x 2 hybrid combiner for 600 to 4100 MHz, used to combine base station signals

Because both models cover 600 to 4100 MHz, one unit can handle low band LTE, mid-band LTE and 5G NR up to n78 in the same headend.

How a hybrid matrix is used

In a typical design, the outputs of a point of interface module or of several base stations connect to the matrix inputs. The matrix then distributes each input across all outputs, and each output feeds a DAS branch or a master unit. As a result, every branch receives every operator and band at a similar level. Conversely, a 2 x 2 hybrid combiner merges two signal sources into two outputs, which is common in smaller systems.

Key parameters

  • Frequency range and flatness across the band
  • Power handling per input and in total
  • Insertion loss and port-to-port isolation
  • Passive intermodulation (PIM) performance
  • Connector type and mounting

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a hybrid matrix and a splitter?

A splitter divides one input into several outputs. A hybrid matrix accepts several inputs and distributes each of them to all outputs while keeping the inputs isolated from each other.

Can a hybrid matrix carry 4G and 5G at the same time?

Yes. Both models cover 600 to 4100 MHz, so LTE and 5G NR signals within this range can share the same matrix.
