800MHz TETRA DMR Repeaters and BDAs

800MHz TETRA DMR repeaters and bi-directional amplifiers improve professional radio coverage in the 800 and 850 MHz ranges. TETRA, DMR, SMR and other land mobile radio systems use these bands, and so do some public safety networks. Therefore, when buildings, tunnels or terrain block the signal, a BDA or a fiber DAS restores reliable coverage.

Products in this group

  • A 20 dBm band selective mini repeater (BDA) for SMR 850 MHz
  • A 30 dBm SMR 850 MHz bi-directional amplifier
  • A 33 dBm band selective bi-directional amplifier
  • A 40 dBm tunable bandwidth high power repeater (BDA) that supports 850 MHz analog, digital, iDEN, TETRA and LTE
  • 850 MHz in-line boosters, including a 40 dBm model
  • An 800 MHz fiber DAS master unit and fiber remote unit

According to their datasheets, the SMR 850 MHz models offer an affordable solution for indoor coverage problems.

Why tunable bandwidth helps

In the 800 and 850 MHz ranges, several networks often operate close together. For this reason, a tunable bandwidth repeater lets the installer set the passband to the frequencies of the served network. As a result, the repeater avoids amplifying neighbouring users and uses its output power where it is needed.

In-line boosters and fiber DAS

Meanwhile, in-line boosters compensate for insertion loss in passive components and for feeder cable loss in indoor distribution systems or tunnels. For large sites, in contrast, the 800 MHz fiber DAS carries the signal from a master unit to remote units over optical fiber, which avoids long coaxial runs.

Frequently asked questions

What is SMR?

SMR stands for specialized mobile radio, a land mobile radio service that uses frequencies in the 800 and 850 MHz ranges in some regions.

Which product fits a small building?

Typically, a band selective mini repeater is enough for a small indoor area with a good donor signal. Larger sites may need a higher power BDA or a fiber DAS.
