Cellular Fiber DAS for 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G

Cellular fiber DAS distributes mobile operator signals over optical fiber from a master unit at the headend to remote units across a building, campus or tunnel. Because fiber keeps loss low over long distances, remote units can be installed exactly where coverage is needed, while the signal source stays in a central equipment room.

Products in this group

The group is organised by the number of bands per remote unit:

  • Dual band: 1800/2100 MHz remote units, including a 23 dBm MIMO model and a 43 dBm high power model
  • Triple band: 900/1800/2100 MHz remote units at 23 dBm with MIMO and at 43 dBm, plus a triple band fiber DAS for Band 31, Band 26 and n78
  • Quad band: a 900/1800/2100/2600 MHz master unit for GSM, WCDMA and LTE, 23 dBm MIMO and 43 dBm remote units, and a quad band fiber DAS for Band 31, Band 26, n78 and n79

According to their datasheets, the triple and quad band systems for Band 31, Band 26, n78 and n79 are designed for private 4G and 5G networks and support both FDD and TDD modes.

Low power or high power remote units?

Low power MIMO remote units suit dense indoor layouts, where many units with short antenna runs deliver even coverage and higher throughput. High power remote units, in contrast, cover larger areas per unit, such as halls, car parks, tunnels or outdoor zones. Many designs combine both types.

Planning a cellular fiber DAS

  • Operators, bands and technologies, including future 5G needs
  • Signal source: base stations through a point of interface, or an off-air repeater
  • Floor plans, coverage targets and MIMO requirements
  • Fiber routes, power and remote monitoring

Frequently asked questions

What does MIMO add to a fiber DAS?

MIMO uses parallel signal paths to increase data throughput. It requires MIMO-capable remote units, antennas and network support.
